Martinus Sebushane, who was one of the first natives who was ordained for minister of the church, that he and ten other Christians were brought before Chief Sekwati who ordered them to renounce their christianity, but they refused to do so. The Chief ordered that they be put in the pool of the mutsi river up to their neck in water. It was winter time and the water was half frozen. They were kept in the water for hours, then the chief gave up and allowed them to come out. I asked Martinus Sbushane if they did not freeze in the cold water, he said he did not even feel the cold. The name of that pool in the mutsi is Moeding oa Majakane (The meadow of the Christians). <em>(Martinus Sewushane het in 1890 die Bapedi Lutherse kerk gestig met Johannes August Winter as geestelike leier.
