My Father was requested to go with the Boere Commando to Mapog to get Mampuru who murdered old Sekukuni. When they arrived there, the Boer officers with my Father went, with a white flag, to talk to Chief Mapog. My father told me that he felt very creepy going through a narrow poort with high precipices lined on both sides with natives holding guns. The Boer officers told Mapog that if he delivered Mampuru to them they would retire and not trouble him. Mapog’s answer was this: “I have swallowed Mampuru and if you want to get him you must cut my stomach open”. The next morning, before dawn, the Boere Commando surrounded Mapog’s kraal and started fighting. Mampuru was eventually caught and sent to prison in Pretoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
